Land Rover Discovery 3 RIP

My Discovery 3 being recovered from it's watery demise.
It got carried downstream by an exceptional and unexpectedly strong current while fording a river.
I got about half way across when all the electrics died and left me with no drive so the river took over.

The recovery took place nearly 24 hours after the original flooding (it's a long story!) and the flow had subsided a lot in that time. The water was still very cold though.
Much respect to the recovery guy from Westbourne Motors.

Recovery was not helped in that I had left the transmission in Park and there's no way to change gear without power in the car.

It's now a Cat B write-off due to the water damage.

sorry to see your disco like this. i think i have seen your disco around befor and is that the ford in bramshill by chance as it lookes like it

@SuperBigmat Thanks for that, I have to say it's not the way I'd have liked to see it go but I can only really blame myself for it, got another D3 now, (same colour) but I'm a bit more careful with deep water now.

You're right, that is the Bramshill ford, (or Farley Hill ford as I've heard it referred to before.)

I guess you are local too then.

Lucky it was only the car that was written off - it doesn't take much water to wash a car away.

First rule of fording: check the depth, and it's flowing water, avoid it unless it's very shallow.
