Some useful tips.

1. You can boost in the ghost and some other enemy vehicles by holding left trigger.

2. The plasma pistol can be charged by holding the trigger, A charged shot eliminates enemy shields and disables vehicles temporarily.

3. The pistol you have as a secondary in most levels can zoom and headshotting the shieldless jackals and grunts, along with a weakened brute, will be a one-hit kill without having to waste any ammo from your smg or assault rifle.
