2005 SRT-6 Crossfire with an excessive cranking/hard start problem. The car has 3600 miles (not 36,000). One dealer said they couldn't duplicate it, so I figured I'd film it and take it to another dealer.

  • Hey guys,

I got the car fixed - it was the Check Valve in the fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump, and it is good to go now.

Eltiogera, yours sounds like either the check valve or the CPS sensor.

  • Shawn, It's Valkryderguy from the xfire forum.

Your thread and this video was very helpful as I think I am now in need of a new fuel pump to.

I have begun to experiance the same problem.

Thanks for the write up and this video

    Seen at Crossfireforum

Video of the Long Cranking problem I've had...

  • Looks like you have a bad pump. If you have a rough idle after that than the pump is not keeping up with the car. I suggest a new pump.

  • Did you ever get this fixed? You should turn the key to let the fuel pump 'churn' then turn it back off. Then repeat. Then on the 3rd time crank it. To see what happens. Sounds like the check valve. If so, put a new fuel pump in, preferably of higher quality.

  • ok this I had the same problem with my srt6 and is the fuel pump but nice video

  • my 07 bmw 335i did the same thing after about 5k, it was the high pressure fuel pump that was bad and replaced under warranty.

  • Same issue here. Its going to the dealer soon, so we'll see what they have to say....

  • I also have a Crossfire SRT6 with similar problems. Sometimes it didnt crank at all and I had a hard time getting it to start. Then only ONCE I had the exactly same problem as you did, but it did started. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't fix it, but now for some reason its working perfectly.
