Demo showing the impact of mild packet loss on PCoIP. Latest VMWare View 4 running on VMWare ESXi, connecting to a Windows XP VM. VMWare View client running on Windows XP SP3 under Parallels (OS X). Injected packet loss at 3%, on top of the existing loss between the two endpoints (San Francisco and Ottawa, Canada). Even though PCoIP does have acceptable WAN performance, loss introduces several issues to the user like lag on the interface and video/sound choppiness. IPeak Networks IPQ technology greatly reduces it, bringing the perceived user performance back to acceptable levels.
Note: as stated the connection is established through a PPTP based VPN (native RRAS on Windows Server 2003). L2TP VPNs may reduce the impact of loss on PCoIP.
