I'm a little late but I actually can resonate with your point of view. Not looking for but not apposed to love. I've once gone four years without a significant other. Now that I am single again (about 1.5 years now) and plan to go to Japan I don't even look for S.O.s. Even though I know people are grown and make their own decisions I wouldn't feel right roping someone in and then breaking their heart once I get on that plane.

P.S. I wouldn't rush Marriage just so they can go with me either.

@Zeeroyuy I will agree that it's best to come to Japan unattached unless you plan on going back in only one year or your SO will come to Japan to join you.

How long is too long? I went 3+ years w/o sex...I didn't have my first relationship until I was 26... and finding out that expectations of a partner going unfulfilled is even more difficult than being alone. I never pictured myself in a long term relationship up until this year when I turned 31 and I started feeling like I wanted to find someone worthwhile--yet still within me rings the fact I am better living alone in my own space...but companionship I still would like.

@TaishaJason Massively, massively late reply, but I noticed your reply in my inbox today for the first time. Just got me thinking back to when I posted my first comment; since then I've entered into a relationship with a Japanese girl who I met on exchange at my Uni in the UK, but have to wait a year before I go out to Japan and get to properly spend time with her again. Basically just wanted to say that you never know who might be worth it, said I couldn't do long distance, and look at me now!

Hey brother, watched most of you vid's, and you've sort of become an inspiration and i would love to become an alt. but back to the Q at hand, i am in my early 20's, i lived in Oz for just under a year, i know there's no language barrier, but i was still a foreigner. I found that i made friends quite quickly. but never got round to the dating side, for me personally i didn't find it troublesome. i think if your happy with being who you are, it doesn't matter whether, your sexually active or not

Went 10 years before meeting the person I wanted to be with. It was by choice not lack of opportunity. I think if you are happy with yourself, busy enjoying your life and fulfilled socially you don't have that "need". My friends kept asking,"But aren't you lonely? Don't you miss being with someone?" But I did not! I was having so much fun discovering me and my life.
