Welcome!

My first video was just a glimpse of my game engine. This progress video of my game engine shows the marine character sample model idling in the scene. The character model is from the book Beginning XNA 2.0 Game Programming and I am just using it as a placeholder for now. Soon I will have my own character model in the engine. The gun model is a Scar with an acog sight, but is not attached to the character's hand just yet. So far you can sprint, jump and shoot. For now I have a basic sprint animation. My aim-down-the-sights animation is a little off and is still in the works. The shooting sound effect needs some work and the bullet class is still being programmed.

Well, thanks for watching and I will try to have another progress video sometime next month. Peace :)

  • better than cod

  • @DansDailyTalks haha thanks :)

  • im only 14 do u think i can do any thing this good? and if so got any tips im trying so hard and just do not know what im doing could u point me in the right way that would be great thanks!

  • @upliftsleet1974 Absolutely... I think you can design something better regardless of your age. It takes hard work, time, patience and some luck. I went to the App Hub website for XNA and downloaded Visual Studio Express to program in C#. XNA for independent developers use C# to program in and a great book I am reading right now even is Head First in C# 4.0. I created my 3d models in maya 2009 and there are great video tutorials on modeling in maya on this website I found called Digital Tutors.

  • @upliftsleet1974 Free 3d modeling programs I found as well and am currently teaching myself in is Blender and TrueSpace. Really get a good foundation in math and go as far as you can in it. I would say Pre-calc to Calculus and above. I hope this all helps and feel free to ask me any more questions. :-)

  • @jdawgg25 Responding to myself haha... Calculus is mostly used for programming physics. Eventually I will write a basic physics library for my game engine but there are really good physics libraries out there for XNA such as Bepu and Jiglibx. For now I am still learning physics and I have a quite a bit to go before I begin writing the physics lib.
