This is a great video!!! You did a great job at breaking the moves down! OPA!

Thank you so much for this video!! My teacher also taught the 3/4 as a flat-footed shimmy, and I have just never been able to really get it (unless I was at work-low and behold- in my heels) for the whole 6 years I've been dancing. She also doesn't teach it as a LRL, RLR sort of move so I would always become confused when I was watching any sort of well-known ATS or Tribal Fusion dancer(s) online. It finally occurred to me to YT this, and well, I'm very glad I did. This will help immensely!!

I have been searching for a video to break this down! Thanks! :)

@lapistablet I am wearing two different hip shawls. I bought them at different times, from different vendors....so long ago that I can't even remember where they came from. I go to so many belly dance festivals...and never come home empty handed.

is this the same as kabyle dance?

Can I ask where you got hold of that fantastic fishnet and fringe skirt/hipbelt you're wearing? I really like the way it moves...

@lunarnova Thanks!!! I'm glad you enjoy them!!!

Going through all of your tutorial videos, thank you so much for taking the time to post them. Really finding them helpful. Explanations/breakdowns are really well done and love seeing examples of what these simple moves can build a performance.
What?!!! 3/4 shimmy on the toes only? O_o
I used to do those that way when I was a kid, but later I spent ages unlearning that (bad technique) when studying with another teacher =\
OK I've taken many different classes in different styles, and even in each style there seems to be extreme variations in technique from teacher to teacher =\ It's got me super frustrated.
So what's your take on that? Is 3/4 ok as a grounded move on the heels as well as a lighter move on the toes? o_o

@otherwheregirl ...this is Seba the only time I shimmy flat footed is when doing Ghwazee, otherwise my heels are off the floor. Within our troupe some ladies prefer being on the balls of their feet, while others, like myself, use what I call "a kitten heel", heel off the floor but not all the way up on the balls of my feet, knees soft. It doesn't alter the move. hope that helps.
