  • amazing now to learn just how intensive the above ground nuke blasts was in the 1950s. parts of nevada will be lethal for millenia as a result.

  • Respond to this video...They think it's so easy to throw away the weapons, but they never stopped to think of the cost of being the first to "lower your gun". They don't realize that there will ALWAYS be conflict between living things. No country is sinless or bloodless, they don't understand that sometimes, we are forced to do things that are harsh. They blame the people in power without stopping to consider the complexity of the situation, that they don't have the whole picture.

  • @chevybuilder350 They just don't understand, they live with their heads in the clouds, as if war never existed before atomics. They never stop to think of how conflicts were prevented, or scaled down, because of the threat of mutually assured destruction. They only focus on the negative, which to be fair, is significant. We were not the only ones after the technology, we just got there first. Look at the casualty rates in wars post WW2, they have steadily gone down as technology improves.

  • F*** whoever wrote that crap on the test site sign. Atomic technology and weapons are a major thing that made us a superpower and made our country great. Although there were extreme side effects on people being involved with testing or just being alive in that time. Everybody involved with testing believed we were doing the right thing for our country at that time in history. If you don't like our history and what made us what we are, maybe you should go somewhere else...

  • @WhiskeyCentral: Actually, they are both part of the Nellis AFB Bombing Range. 51 is run by the Air Force; the NTS (now the NNSS) is run by the ERDA (aka the AEC until 1974). Their only connection is that soad access to Area 51 is through the NTS.

  • @hitachi088 so

  • @micksquizzy

    read the tittle you punk.

this is a A-Bomb test site.

  • "peaceful nuclear explosions"

of course. we all know that you build an atomic bomb for "peaceful" reasons

  • @micksquizzy Area 51 Is Conected To The Nevada Test Site. To Be Honest Area 51 Is The Nevada Test Site Which There Is More Than Area 51 To The Nevada Test Site Which I Know That The Nevada Test Site Is Divided Into Some Areas Which There Are Four I Believe. Area 51 And Area 52 And Some More. The Famouse Groom Lake (Area 51) Had Been Located Around The NTS Area 51 Location Which Gave Area 51 The Name Area 51. Groom Lake Is Another Name For Area 51.

  • @devidramoth Yes, If you look at the handwriting on the sign at 0:12, you will see two sentences in block letters. For example: WHEN A PERSON WRITES IN BLOCK LETTERS LIKE THIS, it demonstrates intense emotion. The first slogan sandwiched between the first and second paragraph says that the US military is the enemy of planet earth. It should be remembered that both the United States and Soviet governments were engaged in both the defensive and peaceful application of nuclear explosives.
