  • Um... I'm convinced! His blues playing is fantastic (when you hear that '54 tele creaming an AC30 in the flesh it's pretty damned bluesy, trust me...)

Adam Rogers is a musician first, a jazz musician second; genre shouldn't dictate what techniques are or are not 'allowed'. By that dictum there'd be no fusion at all.

And as for Scofield!? What a naughty jazzer he is with all that distorion and string-bending...

  • I don't like the use of genre filters when playing, even less so when listening! Really unhelpful.

As soon as you can really follow Adam Rogers' lines it will really make sense a lot more. They are long and - as you've said - dark and angular. But doesn't that lend a strong feeling to the music? Imagine Adam's solo on this tune without hearing it: can't you sort of *feel* that dark tension? That's quality improvising, plain and simple! I don't care what genre it is.
