what the smaller player seemed to do well in the first video though not as well in the second was to pull the weapon arm towards himself then crank it. i found this is more effective than trying to stop the weapon the apply whatever technique to disarm or take down the attacker.

Nice video guys
the "slow sparring game" that Russian systema imploys will help you to amp up your research. Also helmet protection for the attacker is something else you can do to safety amp of your game.I am just sharing not nay saying.
I hate nay sayers and the guys like us that like to study unarmed knife and dagger seems to get most of the nay saying

Nice video - just wanted to point out that your first two demonstrations of the final play here (2:20-2:30) are incorrect - the leverage applied to the throat by the patient agent (defending) with the right hand should come from over the Right shoulder of the agent (with knife), rather than the Left. It is shown correctly in the 3rd instance. Aside from this minor gripe, this is a very nice tutorial on some dagger plays.

Pedagogic and exelent visual description of the techniques
Your interpretation of the technique at 1:12 is incorrect. It seems you turned it into a classical Japanese Ju-jutsu waki gatame. The plate clearly shows a wrap below the elbow, with no grip, to be used as an isolation while facing the opponent.
Hugeus is right also. Your gripping of the chin in the final play is incorrect too, and is an extrapolation on your part. Meyer does indeed grip the shoulder, not the chin. De Liberi cups under the chin from over the right shoulder as Hugeus pointed out.

@notenoughsayonara re 1.12, It resembles waki gatami because gripping the arm as shown in the picture makes the disarm harder to do, at least for me. Maybe you have different results.Anyway, Fiore uses a waki-like technique against a thrust from above, so it did not seem too radical to use the same grip here. As for cupping the chin from behind over the left shoulder, that is from the Codex Wallerstein, plate 89. It's good of you to notice these points, tho.

Thanks. I hope they help your practice.
Actually, gripping around on the chin from the L side is not incorrect per se. It is a variation of the way Meyer does the technique, which to grip the far shoulder. When your opponent wears only a t-shirt, sometimes you can't get a grip. But it's hard to miss the chin.
