  • socialism is the cause of this nonsense.

  • Bullshit. We haven't had a self-regulating market in almost a century. It has always een controlled by the government. Ever since the Federal Reserve was founded things have just gotten worse and worse.

  • That is one of the big lies of the Obama plan. Tell me, how is any private company supposed to compete with government, when government has the power to regulate and tax? Gov't does not have to please its customers, nor does it have to make a profit. It simply uses force. The essence of gov/t is force.

There is also a provision in the bill that forces people on the gov't plan if they go off their private plan for any reason.

It is socialism by stealth, and socialism always fails.

  • The plan in congress provides a public *option*. If you like your private insurance, you may keep it.

  • Another think I do not understand, if it's so great why do people have to be forced by government to participate? Why do politiicians exempt themselves and their families? When has a government program ever cost what they said it would? When has government ever made anything more efficient?

What this really is, is a plan to save Medicare and Social Security by denying health care to senior citizens. It is a cold, calculating culling of the herd.

How about freedom for a change?

  • People in every country keep electing officials who make the same old promises and never keep them, so all that proves is that people believe in the free lunch.

Just do a quick internet search on problems with nationalized health care and the results from the British press alone will astound you.

I have a friend in Ireland who waited 1 1/2 years (severe pain) for surgery and she was on the "urgent" list. Many Canadians come to the US for care. Otherwise their system would implode.

  • Several years ago, and my brother fell off the monkey bars and broke his arm (in Canada).

We took him to the hospital, and he was seen by a doctor after a wait that was equal to than what you'd expect at a US urgent care center.

Please think about what you were saying. If public healthcare were really so terrible, then the people in Canada would vote for politicians who support a private only plan.

The fact that they keep re-electing pro-public officials is *proof* that the public plan works.

  • The only legitimate function of government is public safety (police and military) Anything else - education, health care, etc. are NOT constitutional.

BTW, I would much rather call a private ambulance company and work with them on payment, than be in Canada where patients routinely lie in ambulances for hours because there is no room at the government run hospitals.

  • The economic cycles you mention are not being created by free-market capitalism. The regulation of free-markets by the Federal Reserve are causing these recessions.

Communism destroys initiative. Companies competing against each other create better cars, computers and consumer goods. People competing with each other for money are going to work harder and produce more.

China and Vietnam are no longer using the communist economic model and they are prospering.

  • i do not believe that communism/socialism is superior to any other system but i do believe it is the right choice over an aristocratic like system that has constant unesesary depressions. Ovecourse many have taken advantage of Communism such as stalin and N Korea, but if communism is run as it was intended to be run then it will succeed, look at China, Laos, and Vietnam, as for Cuba, theve had a terrible embargo on them for the past 50 years, you cannot expect any system to prosper under that

  • Your right there was/is a lot of anti-communist propaganda. There was/is a lot of communist propaganda.

Today most Americans consider the "red scare" propaganda a joke. However, people like you seem to take the communist propaganda seriously. Ignoring the deep failures of communist-Leninist-Stalinist ideology.

You can't seriously believe communism is superior to any system... except maybe feudalism.

  • come on now, watch some 50s anti communist films here on youtube, that's as propaganda as it gets
