This video was taken at a seminar I taught in Essex in October 2011. We were looking at techniques and drills from Kushanku / Kanku-Dai kata. This is one drill that can be used to practise the applications for Shuto-Uke ("knife hand block") and Nukite (spear hand). The idea is to get the key variations drilled in a small amount of training time. I hope you enjoy working the drill!

My partner in the clip is Paul Newman of Kernow Karate in Chelmsford. Paul is one of the few people who holds both a dan grade with me and a full instructor qualification. A good guy who I highly recommend.

I'll be back with more videos soon!

All the best,

Iain

  • the child in the background is funny xD

and what you're doing is also cool ^^

  • @deathlaugh87 Yeah I've just spotted that ... the child at the window could have looked quite spooky with the right lighting seeing it was the day before Halloween ;-)

  • Nice drill. Like it.

  • Hi guys. I was the one assisting Iain with the drill at my Dojo in Chelmsford, Essex. I must say the young girl caught my eye as Iain was explaining the drill to everyone. Took me by suprise! Hope you enjoyed the video. Paul Newman - Kernow Karate
