During the summer of 2009, ArtsWestchester presented a major exhibition entitled RUBBISH!: Art and the Ecosystem.
The exhibition featured twenty Westchester artists who use industrial materials, as well re-cylced and re-purposed objects in their work. Many of the artworks included massive heavy metal and wooden pieces.
RUBBISH! is one of three exhibitions ArtsWestchester is presenting in 2009, which examine environmental issues in recognition of the Quadricentennial of the first European voyage on the Hudson River. A sub-theme of all three exhibitions is How can we be good stewards of the river and the region for the next 400 years?
In this segment, the participating RUBBISH! artists tell us about their work.
artists speak much better through their art ... if they were great and concise public speakers, they would not be in the business of making pieces of art.

I think its worth hearing whatever they have to say considering the countless hours they've spent creating these designs. Articulation and brevity are appreciated but often when presenting abstract art there are some artists who wish to give a little more background. Consider also that is must be at least a little daunting to be filmed like this and many artists are probably unsure how to sum up what i'm sure is a complicated and unique drive to create something.

I love all of this! Its unfortunate that all the artists are not as articulate as Susan Manspeizer. Artists who are definite about there purpose and not wishy washy, give the cause of recycled materials as art medium a better profile in my opinion.
