Reduce global hunger with a low cost and simple way of growing food.

This foolproof method of gardening is very similar to the excellent Earthbox® method.

Like the Earthbox system, Global Buckets:
1) uses 80% less water than traditional gardens
2) Reduces weeds by 100%
3) Takes very little time or effort.

Unlike the Earthbox method, Global Buckets uses locally sourced free or low cost materials, ideal for developing nations.

  • The automatic watering system is working great. After we set it up, we've only spent about 5 minutes on watering during the past month. We're making a video to explain it, but we're leaving for a family vacation so it may not be finished for several weeks.

    Sincerely,

    Grant

  • Really enjoyed this video...Thanks!

  • you guys did a great job with putting out this video, thank you for the info.

  • Very good video. I'm impressed with your compassion for less fortunate countries. I really like your two bucket design. May I make one suggestion? I would substitute burlap fabric for the black plastic covers. Burlap will still suppress weeds, yet allow the soil to breath (which is important for healthy soil life). The light colored material will also keep soil cooler than the black plastic. Free burlap sacks can to obtained at feed mills or coffee shops.

  • Great job, boys!! Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • Were trying these earth boxes. We found out putting a bucket from Lowes in a bucket from Walmart gives us 5 inches of water in the bottom. We like your cup method of slits we are trying this. We purchased Patio plus from Lowes it has compost seaweed, chicken and bat poop. I added worm castings and some worms to the bucket as a test. I will see what happens. I did not put any commercial fertilizer in the bucket.

  • @stymye They put a slit into it, and even showed us. you must have missed it.

  • I only hope my young girls can grow up and be as thoughful and intelligent as you guys are.

Today in my email inbox I got yet another letter describing why we should do nothing and just let things be. It's guys like you and the guy who started the ShelterBox campaign that give me hope that everyone is not a selfish baboon looking out only for her/himself.

Thanks guys - keep it up. We can change the world.

  • Well done boys! Thank you for sharing this!! Blessings

  • Awesome job! I will do this on my roof and spread the word!
