A "mostly unreleased" track from Weather Report's 1974 recording sessions that yielded Mysterious Traveller. Simply known as Miroslav's Tune, official details are scant. However, the aural evidence seems to suggest that in addition to Zawinul, Shorter and Miroslav (on both acoustic and electric basses), the group is joined by the drumming duo of Ishmael Wilburn and Skip Hadden. With regards to additional instrumentation, I haven't a clue.

  • Did they work with kinda samples or loops in this track?

  • @inspiralroses There might be some loops in there, but I doubt it. No, THIS would have been heavily sampled had it been released at the time.

  • @middlebit Agreed. I read in an interview dated 2005 or so that Zawinul owned over 90 albums that had Weather Report samples. He was such a masterful composer and musician that his (and his bandmates) sounds will live on for decades to come.

  • @edthewave Nice, thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more rarities coming soon...

  • Amazing 0 dislike's of this sophisticated composition!!!

  • FUNKY!!!!

  • This is great!

  • im deeply in love with it!!!!!

  • @middlebit christian mcbride is another doubler who comes to mind. and tim lefebvre. but youre right there really arent that many.

  • @unclejunglebass I don't blame Miroslav for sounding out of his element here. Db and eb are really two completely different instruments that just happen to serve more or less the same role in the musical setting. Actually there are remarkably few players who I find convincing on both instruments (John Patitucci is one), and again, I don't blame them - I only play eb myself and I "think eb" as well. I think it's natural that one(for some reason)is most at home on one particular instrument.

  • @middlebit word. i just always thought it was funny that such a beast on the upright sounded so goofy on the electric. i see what you mean though.
