2nd FDP repair, nearly 2 weeks into a splint. I over stretched my tendon 9 weeks after my first op after cutting the base of my little finger with a stanley knife. Don't like going through this again, its depressing 8 weeks doing not much at all, can't use hand (not allowed),can't drive & public transport sucks.....

  • i must be like 12-13 weeks now going strong... apatr from double scar tissue and not being able to stretch the little finer out all the way, even with sleeping in a different spint to counter act it... its not the same and probably never will be. it was making a fist i was worried about but turned out ok.. just the other way is a pain in the arse

  • stitches out

  • Hi mate, I had my fdp and Fds tendon lacerted in my little finger aswell. Exact same injury, but in the right hand.

I've had it re-attached but now scar tissue has set in. How are you getting on movement wise?

  • @CHALA1 well it will be 2 weeks since surgery this wednesday, thats when i have my stitches out, movement is sorta ok,its still swolen, But i can feel the tendon catching when i do my exercise. Wondering if this is down to the scar/stitches being in....

  • I am 4 weeks post surgery. It's hard to type with one hand but here we go. i feel like my ring finger is holding my pinky in place when i make a manually place my fingers in place to a fist fist...or hold a fist. I'm still in the1st splint. Is it easier to flex our finger after we get the 2nd splint? i am extremely worried i won't be able to flex all the way. How is your injury coming along? You guys are defn ahead of me in weeks...

The tendon catching is completely normal. Keep it moving. The mistake i made was when this happened to me I thought it best not to move the tendon at all. How wrong i was. I now can't move the tip of the finger at all and can no longer make a fist. Very annoying.

I have to have a 2nd surgery in couple of month to free up the scarred tendons from the bones.

Keep it moving no matter what, i wish i had a2nd chance. No one stressed to me how important it was.
