This was the 3rd full power pass in the car and it ran 8.98 @ 167MPH. The driver (Jeffrey Evans) reached to pull the parachute release and was not "celebrating" as some have posted. He and MacBook Pro made it out unharmed.
This car set the record for the True Street Class and was the first in the 8's.

Why is everyone calling him a dumbass? when he pulled for the chute and the car grabbed and sending him of trajectory and he tried to both slow down and steer straight for under-steer was the problem and im guessing to run that fast he had a fat offset and running slick hence the under-steer that and it being FWD. he handled it like a Big boy. sounds like yall are the "Dumb-asses" and need to go to the track more

@leogo188 I can assure you he was reaching for the parachute release which you can see at the end of the video has been pulled open.
