Excerpt from Bush's final State of the Union address - Jan. 28, 2008:

"On housing, we must trust Americans with the responsibility of homeownership and empower them to weather turbulent times in the housing market. My Administration brought together the HOPE NOW alliance, which is helping many struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure. The Congress can help even more. Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, modernize the Federal Housing Administration, and allow State housing agencies to issue tax-free bonds to help homeowners refinance their mortgages. These are difficult times for many American families, and by taking these steps, we can help more of them keep their homes."

  • he cheats to win elections he lied to start a war ,I wouldnt believe a thing the waster said

The us economy is going to hell and the few honest people in us politics wont get elected so what hope do you have of pulling things around

  • It is not the Federal governments job to 'bail out' people who don't pay there bills.

A lot of these foreclosure's are on sub prime loans. These people took a gamble and lost, it is not our job to pay for there mistakes.

If I loose my job, sure I might loose my home. But that is my problem, not the Federal governments.

  • More lies from a dictator.

  • Thank you. An old saying is.."You can give a fish to a man and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and yuo feed him for a lifetime".

  • niceonetom : Run for President and see how you go then

  • What we need is, a sound currency that won't lose 60% of it's value in 6 years, such as ours has in the past 6 years. Our dollar is worth .04 of what it was when it was first created. Buying a home shouldn't be such a GAMBLE! Wallstreet is just a big Ponzi scam. I agree that it's not the Federal Governments job to bail out people, because they're really bailing out wealthy investors on OUR DIME!

  • Are we supposed to refinance with higher interest loans? What about lending reform??? Where are the words, Bush???

  • it's been 8 years and i still can't believe that this barely literate schmuck is taken seriously.
