If you learn Polish it is not enough to know a word. You need to know how to decline.
The "Polish Word Pool" helps you to train those simple question you need to know to answer in all possible cases (I left out the Vocative as it is barely used)

  • Narzędnik zawsze sobie tłumaczyłem Z kim?, z czym? (Idę) a nie zachwycam :o

  • @Radzio9955

bylo by chyba lepiej. Chociaz: i czym ide? Ide z butelka. Troche abstrakcyjnie.

  • I still don't understand.. these grammar rules are the only thing that is stopping me advancing further with my learning :(

  • @VideoGameG0d

more lessons are already planed :) I will manage to explain it one day, I promise.

  • myślę, że polskiej deklinacji powinno się trochę nauczyć (tak, żeby wiedzieć o co w niej chodzi) ale później trzeba się do niej po prostu, poprzez częste używanie polskiego, przyzwyczaić.

  • I think that this is a great video, thanks, a great idea with the bottles. It has encouraged me to tackle these declensions.

  • thank you :) I'm sure you can help: write a screep to: dziewczyna (a girl, feminin), chlopak (a boy, masculin), dzecko (a chid, neuter) - then I do three vids more :D

  • @jonno52 Dziękuję i wzajemnie :) If you have any questions, send message to me.

  • @Dukatovny Dziękuję bardzo. I will take every chance to talk, but really it is only the good people who work at the pub (same word in both languages!) who I can talk to, and they are usually busy. Thank you for your help today. You should say "Myself" not "Himself" and "badly" rather than "bad", but your English is better than my Polish. Szczesliwego Nowego Roku!

  • @jonno52 Remember, conversation is the best way to learn. Himself, I speak English very bad, but I'm learning. So, back to the conversation in liquor store ("sklep monopolowy" - "monopol", beacause Polish communist authority had a monopoly for liquor stores), maybe too "Pięć Żywców w puszce, proszę" - declension with 'Żywiec' - but this is harder than then.

  • @Dukatovny Thanks! (Słucham!) I *wasn't* so clever, of course. Word order is more important than I thought. But I know very little. It has become clearer now than 4 months ago how difficult it is, despite doing Latin & German long ago. I know quite a lot of phrases & a few verbs (present tense) but that's not learning a language. I've ordered a book on conjugations & declensions: impossible to learn from a book really, & with few chances to speak it, but I don't want to give up yet.

  • @jonno52 Listen, "Piwo Żywiec, proszę", not "Żywiec piwo, proszę", and "Jedną butelkę Żywca, proszę" (not "Jedna butelka Żywiec") or without declension "Jedną butelkę PIWA Żywiec" :)

  • 2 weeks ago I could say "Żywiec piwo, proszę". Clever, huh? Last week I could say "Jedna butelka Żywiec, proszę) and the next day "Dwie butelki.." (being thirsty!). But now all this too! Still, it's very enjoyable. Thanks for these great videos Janusz.

  • Also, if anyone is seriously struggling still, I have found some great material from multiple sources that goes very well with these awesome videos. Just message me and I'll try to get back to you asap!

Using the tables on these videos and the tables on the alternate videos hopefully being made? *hint hint** :D along with the other tables I have found you will soon be able to compare plurals with singulars and change them respective to the rule :)

    Thanks again for the videos!

  • Ok... a few months later and I still haven't quit! xD

I have progressed far enough now to have a better understanding of these grammar rules! I'm still making silly little mistakes here and there but I'm at least moving in the right direction!

A nice tip for you, I think, would be to post videos with possible alternate endings. I've noticed while learning that not all words follow these rules and a video showing some of these words would be a massive help to many people I'm sure.
