They aren't "Gypsy" as Gypsies originate from India and Pavee (Irish Travelers) originate from Ireland.
To sort out some of the remarks and misunderstanding on other vids.
These are NOT professional boxers but they are just typical Irish travelers. The correct term for Irish Traveler is Pavee. This is the Pavee way of sorting out family disputes which is an old Irish custom that goes back hundreds of years. In fact this is the original form of boxing. You've only got to look at them to see they are not in training for the fight. Obviously the youngsters are more in shape than the older generation.
Another word that Irish Travellers use amongst themselves is 'Needy'. Notice how the Wards are referred to as an old Neddy family (0.40). The word has nothing to do with the English word 'Needy'.
You can criticize the way the old man is dressed but then I doubt many people can say with honesty that their fathers or grandfathers look like Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery.
You got to hand it to him that he can still have a straightener at the age he is. This video clip is not a recent one but was recorded some years back.
Example of some people of Pavee (Irish Traveler) descent are singer Shayne Ward and boxers John O'Donnell, Francis Barrett and Michael Gomez.
Pavee are not Gypsy. Gypsy is a completely different ethnic. Gypsy refers to travellers of Romani descent. Pavee originate from Ireland and amongst themselves they speak a Gaelic originating language called Shelta. The Romani originate from NW India and speak an Indian language. The word Gypsy itself derives from the word Egyptian as this was where Europeans thought them to be from due to there brown tanned complexions and Asian appearence.
Something else to remember is that anyone can work out on a bag and look good. Just because you've been down the gym and done some pad work don't assume you would be good in a straightener. I'm sure if these boys worked out on a bag they would also look good. Its not until you are having a one to one that you quickly realize that all that skill on the bag is not used but reserving energy and not getting hit is more critical. Most fights on the street only last a couple of minutes and is usually one person doing all the hitting or is one sided. Its rare to get a decent even fight that lasts a good few minutes without rolling around or wrestling. Remember this is still on an amateur level. They are not paid fighters. They are sorting out a dispute between two families in a way that is still civilised as in there is no dirty tactics such as kicking, head butting or biting and it has a referee.
