Peace Unto You Maha. I think it makes a lot of sense to respond to morning of goog and evening of good with morning of light and evening of light. Light represents the intelligence of the creator and when spoken in this sense encourages those we greet to go forward in the righteous intellect that we know to be good; this greeting reminds us to live our time in righteous thought, behavior and aid of others.

they're completely different languages, they're just written in the same script.

Pashto and Farsi are relatively similar but they bear absolutely no relation to Arabic (other than the many loan words and influence from the Arab world)

They all have similarities, but are entirely different in origin. Farsi is the language native of Persia. It was influenced greatly by the Arabic occupation, thus Farsi has many loan words from Arabic. The same goes for Pashto. Pashto has had a lot of influence from both Farsi and Arabic, but it is essentially it's own language with it's own system. Arabic is the granddaddy of middle eastern language. It is constant as ever. I'm Persian, and generally we bicker with Arabs, but I love Arabic.
