@manwithplan61 Yeah, I feel the same. I saw the movie first, so I find this Mrs. Lovett actually kind of annoying. I definitely prefer Helena.

Talking about the way she gave him a pie, in the movie version, I could maybe swallow a bite or two.
And the first time I saw this, I couldn't eat anything even looking like a pie for months.

@manwithplan61 Considering the fact that this show was performed before Johnny Depp had been in a movie, it may be possible that him and Carter simply didn't fulfill the criteria of the original production. No one can ever match Angela Lansbury.

I might be spoiled off the burton version, but i just dont see the voices fitting the characters in this version.

I wouldn't let her point that knife at me!! Hahaha!

I've seen Sweeney Todd 3 times...once here, once in Burton's, once in our local theater....I can honestly say, I've never seen a bad Ms. Lovett...they really scan for talent casting that role.

Wao!!!!!!!

@CosplayCore I can TOTALLY see Belle and the Beast as Sweeney and Lovett.

I think people are forgetting that there is no editing with theatre....Movies are edited multiple times (to say the least) no room for mistakes with how much money is put into a production, mess up on stage, and that's it whats done has been done. I have major respect for this show, it is such a bizarre musical, but they do it wonderfully. And remember without these originals, there would be no Burton version.
Angela Lansbury!!!!!! I also love Helena. I adore both Lovettes. :)
