The iCub robot running the multimodal saliency-based attention system where the robot's decisions to move eyes and neck are based on visual and acoustic saliency maps. The system endows the robot with an emergent exploratory behavior.

  • Are you fucking retarded? You posted this exact comment on a bunch of other videos about ICub. You have to be REALLY stupid to base your facts on movies.

  • @Thunder0ne I wouldn't say violence is what I meant by being territorial. I would just say there has to be some kind duration of importance placed on the object, which is how memory works. The more possessive you are about something the more you are able to recall it, and think of it. I think robots, nowadays lack that ability to possess things and think them (objects) their own.

  • @Juefawn I am assuming that territorial means "controlling a piece of land even through violence". I don't think it might turn into something, but let's assume that new behaviours can emerge. The main condition, IMHO, would be that resources to make it function depend on a piece of land, and the robot wants to survive (or preserve its functioning).

  • @Thunder0ne Thunder, interesting. Not sure if you will respond this being such a time ago. How might a robot turn territorial?

  • This is perfect, exactly what I am talking about when it comes to focus. Next step classification of moving things into episodic memory, and using audio to represent them. Use a question algorithm for what, and this will cause classification. Then once it knows, it should ask again, but be able to recall the name of the event or thing.

  • 00:53 hes staring into your soul you will die for watching his baby vids when hes a functioning mature machine of death in 4-7 months

  • Kinda creepy how the robot looks up and down at the guy. Makes you wonder, what is it REALLY thinking?

  • I think talking about robots against humans is pointless, because a self consciousness should first emerge, but let's assume this is a possibility .

Even in such case, robots cannot become hostile towards humans because they would not need to compete for resources or reproduction as biological entities do. A problem could be energy availability, but renewable energy should solve this problem. Robots will be necessary when humans will realise that they are too many to use this planet resources.
