  • Hey my 8 month all dog is playfull like this only with dogs who she can dominate she won't play like this with bigger dogs but she does get aggressive if theres a toy involved or the other day she was dominating a dog and another dog came to play but she tried to start with the other dog luckily that didn't turn into anything so what are some pre cautions I can take to help her stop being aggressive in playing situations

  • "when ever i get serious i hump," said the dominant dog.

  • I enjoyed watching these two playing. Thanks for sharing. It's a good video to use to illustrate a clear difference between aggression and playing - as the others mentioned, the "dominance" kinda bounces between just playing and slight control.

They're using their bodies and legs and not their mouths. Mouth play is fine as long as someone like you is there to prevent it from escalating. At the end a simple command, walk away and both disengage beautifully. Nicely done!

  • A good video of dogs playing for dominance.the retreiver seems to have established his dominance in the play time,by having the other dog lay down and expose his belly and be submissive a couple times and also assuming a lower position a few times.good video

  • I agree. I don't think this video shows any dominance issues, just play. There's reciprocating play between the two dogs. Not all mounting is related to dominance, that's a myth. The prior commentor is correct, social mounting or inappropriate play would me my call.

  • Not the slightest bit of aggression is showed in these two dogs. Not even dominance either. These dogs are very playful with eachother, and in the midst of their play, they happen to mount eachother. At these times its more of a social mount, caught in the moment of play mount, than a mount displaying dominance, or assertiveness. its kind of hard for me to explain. Hopefully that made some sort of sense.

  • Nice job!
