I did follow them, but it got to a point where, since they travel in a straight line, I dropped down a hill yet they stayed in the air. They were so high up, eventually they went into some trees, and I couldn't make out what was tree and what was person... So I lost them. I made a save file, though, so maybe I can try tracking them down again next time.
