Wellington is a cool city, and if you know where to go, as I do, it has some really nice hot spots, awesome scenery, and full of culture.
You do have to use your brain to find what your looking for thou.
If beaches are your thing but not the wind, then you will descover that it has East South and West side coastal beaches, chances are one side will be sheltered out of the wind.
I still rank Wellington the best NZ city.
Those that criticize Wellington obviously dont know it very well : )

@Dxceh um who keeps the economy up? What is the biggest city? Who owns almost half the population? Who hosted the Rugby Cup semi quarter and finals? who host's the Tennis International championships? AUCKLAND DOES! is that all you got?!? i could go on and on...
