The Media Education Foundation presents
A film by Ruaridh Arrow
Gene Sharp hardly seems like one of the world's most dangerous men. White-haired and soft-spoken, the 83-year-old professor mostly keeps to himself, spending much of his time in his small Boston home reading, writing, and tending to his orchid garden. But to the world's most brutal dictators, Professor Sharp's ideas have proven catastrophic. In this fascinating new film, first-time director Ruaridh Arrow details how an obscure list of nonviolent actions authored by Sharp in 1973 has served as a blueprint for anti-authoritarian revolts everywhere from Eastern Europe and the Balkans to the Arab Spring uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. Giving as much attention to the substance of Sharp's "198 Methods of Nonviolent Action" as it does to the democratic rebels who have courageously made these methods their own, How to Start a Revolution bears witness not only to the power of nonviolent struggle, but to how one person of conscience can quietly influence the lives of millions of people. Features commentary from Sharp's close ally Retired U.S. Army Colonel Robert Helvey, Sharp himself, and many of the revolutionary leaders his work has inspired.
peace war has become dangerous to them.and by god's well we will win.however the governments are fighting back with 2 ways, 1-killing everybody, and 2-implanting people within to A-drive the masses to multiple ways that will lead us to unsettle for a long time & the demonstrations last for months, and killed civilians numbers become more. 2-by dividing the people based on the differences of "how we want to be after the revelation ends". its a war.

Let us put a end to the lie that human beings cannot make a difference. Dictatorships are set up by people who are weak. They have to use force to maintain power. Real power does not need force. Going to check out this guy. The media is not monolithic and the new digitial media is as powerful and as a society changing as the printing press. Very inspiring video.

And then they put a US-puppet regime in power. Sharp must be on the CIA payroll.

I'm not sure what the DVD is about but re: Gene Sharps' book title: Democracy is a dictatorship of the majority. "Democratic" governments enforce thier power through violence or the threat of violence. Dictatorships enforce their power thought violence or the threat of violence. Organizing a society around the non initiation of force is the ultimate [r]Evolution. Using force against another should only be used for self defence... and not used in organizing societies or communities.
