Police have used tear gas to disperse anti-capitalism protesters in Oakland, California.

Hundreds of people were driven from the 'Occupy Wall Street' camp in Frank Ogawa Plaza after police declared it an 'illegal assembly'.

Interim Police Chief Howard Jordan said the use of gas was "necessary to protect officers and property".

Rebecca Barry reports.

  • Illegal assembly? Did this pig take an oath to support and defend the constitution?

  • @robran53 did you say "constitution"? Is it still in force?

  • YEA AND THIS THE FREE COUNTRY PEOPLE FIGHT FOR

  • Tyranny at work, no longer "To Serve and Protect", but "To Mame and Disperse" ...even if it is a citizen's right to protest or congregate in public places.

  • respect existence or expect resistance

  • Generally speaking, the protests do not seem anti-capitalist. They are anti-corporatist in nature.

  • They could hire alot of them haha

  • Unbelievable ;(

  • cops atttacked Oakland at 5 am when most of the campers were sleeping/half awake...I guess it's ovious you know what side the Oaklands pigs are on
