Note: in order to post this track I needed to fade out the last 30+ seconds as it runs for just over 11 minutes. Shit but unavoidable. There are no further changes in the track beyond the improvised ending, it fades out in the same way.
James Mason Played Keyboard For Roy Ayers In The Early 70's Before He Released His One And Only Album, "Rhythm Of Life" In 1977. This Track Was Supposed To Appear On His Second Album But Was Rejected Along With Plans For A Follow Up LP. It Wasn't Until 1996 That Mighty Fine Records In The UK Released A Two Track 12" Featuring Tracks, Nightgruv And I Want Your Love. Four Years later Soul Brother Released The Same Two Tracks Along With An Edit Of I Want Your Love, To Which I am Eternally Grateful ( I Have Never Come Across A Copy Of The Original Release ) . This Is A Spaced Out Classic From One Of The Era's Unsung Hero's.
Below Are The Notes Included On The Mighty Fine Release.
"Although these recordings were never meant to be released, i hope you will enjoy them. If you have enjoyed my work in the past, i believe, perhaps, you will. These recordings were made for record industry decision makers to judge the worthiness of my efforts versus their risk in financing another album recorded by me. I had always thought that, if my effort was found worthy, these recordings would be redone. Except for this release by Mighty Fine Records, for which i am grateful, neither of these dreams have come true, and, therefore, this labour of love is being forwarded to you as is. Please do not take this message as an encouragement to pass this recording by. It is not. I have put a great deal and effort and hope into these songs and sincerely hope you enjoy them". -James Mason ... "Benita...Thanks for hanging in."
Thanks so much for sharing this, i have been looking for this. I wish they had a love button!
