Go to an online concordance and enter "Abaddon." Then translate to Gallifreyan. Viola. The Doctor's real name.
At least that's my theory.
Some parents suck at names.

@MagicRobot12 Theta Sigma was the doctor's nick name in college(or what ever the time lord equivalent of that is) it's not his real name.
-
The doctors name is Theta Sigma

@Dave01Rhodes Touché. XD

@JoelCornah but "Doctor Who" was on screen in the title sequence before any lines were said. "Doctor Who" were the first words ever in the entire series.
-
@evilduck666 no, it falls when his name is ASKED. His name is only spoken AFTER silence falls.
-
@Calriec No but he is a time traveller, not just that he's a time lord. Like he said about stars "I know how it began and I know how it ends and I was probably there both times." he could probably say the same about the universe.
-
@Calriec he's a time traveller

How can "Doctor Who?" be the oldest question in the universe? The Doctor isn't as old as the universe, at least I don't think so.

So Silence will fall when Doctor who says his name....And his enemy is the silence.... And they want to kill him before he says it. So why not just go the place straight away and say it? River manages to survive knowing it and he out lives her. Job done?
There's an even older question. The Doctor's first on-screen line. "What are you doing here?"

I love Matt Smith's little grin at the end. He knows the answer, but he'll never tell!
