ok.i really now don't understand why it's not working.i'm really pissed!.
Let me explain:
i tried connecting the ti89 in total to 3 pc.
A) windows 7 x64 with 4gb ram and so on...
B) windows 7 x86 with 2gb ram
C) windows xp x86 with 2 gb ram (notebook)
Assuming all usb working, because tried with my phone.
In case of A,B (windows 7) when i connect the ti into usb port, nothing happens. It not even trigs the new hardware (it does not detect the new hardware)

@DrSandeepluthra thanx a lot bro.... i tried with another computer and it worked there..... actually i think the os upgrade was unfinished..... so i took off all the batteries (including the backup) and then reinstalled the batteries and os 3.1....... now its working both in my laptop and desktop.... thank you
hi,
i have a ti 89 titanium, but i don't have the original usb cable which came from, i'm using another usb from my cellphone.
when i connect the ti89T to my pc, i can't hear the sound of hardware detection and the ti is not recognised.
do u know if it depends from the not original cable i'm using ? (it's a usb-miniusb like the original)
The strange thing is that if i connect the cable to the pc, and the ti89 is powered off, it turns on!! but the pc cannot detect it.
any idea how to solve?

@pdcane As long as the USB cable from your cell phone carries data, it shouldn't be a problem. (I.e. it's not just a power cable) It turning on is normal when connecting a cable to the USB port. I'd try to scan for hardware changes in the device manager. If that doesn't work, I'd try another computer. If the other computer doesn't work, I'd try a different cable. I've used it with multiple cables. It's called a USB A to USB Type Mini-B

@pdcane That's very strange. Do other USB devices work with the Windows 7 Computers? Windows 7 doesn't seem to be the issue as you can see from above. What brand/model are your computers? If you want, I can help you troubleshoot the issue over TeamViewer.
