  • I want to do some new videos this summer on the entire process from sculpting to painting and i will show my current process. I now use fw inks from the beginning and clearcoat with Aleenes flexible fabric glue thinned down which is very flexible and will protect very well. It also gives a great gloss or wet look and if you want a skin sheen you can add a layer of matte modge podge or i like to use liquitex matte medium which is flexible and also helps for uv protection.

  • I used rubber cement for this piece, but i am trying to get away from the more toxic paints and techniques. I have been using mainly just inks and then Jordu showed us this at his class, but since then i have found better ways to clearcoat.

For the rubber cement you mix rubber cement with naptha about 50/50. Then you add some oil paint to tint it to your color.

  • @Alteregodezines Is there a specific brand rubber cement that you use? I was trying to track down Barge brand but I'm not having a lot of luck finding it near me or at a decent price. Is there one that I can use off the shelf?

  • @warcraftgamergirl - I am sure that any brand will work, but i am doing different techniques to go away from the toxic stuff. Using just the acrylic inks works great and i just seal it with a matte medium or if i need a wet looking finish i use aleens flexible stretchable fabric glue sprayed on through a paint gun

I have pics in progress of my new piece on my facebook fan page.

  • Facebook - alter-ego-dezines, you tube is not letting me post a link

  • Thanks, Getting a realistic look can be done by adding different layers of the splatter effect with the brush to break up the skin. The veins would be hard, but maybe if they were done light and you added a few thin layers on top to blend the veins in so they look as if under the skin. sorry havn't done it without use of the airbrush, hope this helps.

  • @Alteregodezines Thank you!

  • I want to make my Davros mask look more realistic than it does, he has a greyey-brown skin tone in the series. I was told to use Emultion and liquid latex?
