My take on Hendrix versus Malmsteen. Hendrix was primarily a singer/songwriter who played a mean guitar. He was more interested in the sonic capabilities of the instrument more than notes. Malmsteen is a guitarist par excellence, with unparalleled picking speed and mindboggling musical knowledge. Each stretched the boundaries of the instrument. It's the apples vs. oranges argument and the true artist will appreciate the contributions of each.

The only other 2 in rock that he admits to enjoying were Blackmore and Hendrix.

i think lane is faster, but yngwie is just plain better. lane could play fast, but he had no phrasing whatsoever, he just played unintelligible streams of notes for 8 minutes without stopping. yngwie breaks things up a bit, and is musically appealing.
