i wouldnt use 1 of those pumps again use a submersable that way if something happens so it is not pumping there is no way there can be exposed electrical components in the water... if the water was over the motor your lucky u didnt kill urself walking in that water...

Yeah I don't use the all plastic sump pumps anymore. I use Wayne cast iron SPV-500 pedestal sump pumps. They're workhorses.
Depending on how much it rains and how saturated the ground gets, ours turns off and on probably 400 to 500 times per day. It just keeps on going and going. :)
