This will pretty much be the final video from the 5 min portrait with Adam Rosenberg. I thought it would be god to share my feelings about the images and the use of the Nikon D3100 with the Kit Lens.

I asked Adam Lerner to join me again in this video as a second opinion on some of the topics we were discussing. We talk about how you can make the basic cameras and lenses work but how good glass that is not to expensive can really make all the difference in the world.

I give a brief look inside the beginner guide that I am working on and discuss portions of the exposure triangle.

Would you like me to turn these type of discussions into pod casts so you can download and listen to Adam and my discussions?

  • hey jarde, i was wondering, whats the best buy fish eye lense i cant get for Nikon d3100? i love to soot bmx and skating photos. thanks ahead of time.

  • @bassthroughme nikon has a 10.5 and sigma makes some fish eyes as well.

  • Fro why don't you use the flash bounced off the ceiling ??? It could help you lower your ISO and still able to zoom in at different F stops !!! Any particular reason ???

  • @thumelen because bouncing off the ceiling does not always look that good, you end up with a brightly lit top of the head and a shadowed face area. That and to me unless your going to do a full light set up its going to look pretty plain.

  • Jared, I think I'm feeling bore and bored! We want to see something new!!!

  • @BDJOEcustomvideos what would you like to see if your feeling bore and bored?

  • @JaredPolin thank you man. ill look into em'

  • Jared, I think Im struggling with using a 2.8 and depth of field loss. I do see some people still getting decent depth of field at 2.8 but not sure why that is. Hyperfocal length maybe? I would like to see something about DOF on this level not just the simple explanation but something that goes into distance and how it affects DOF

  • Jared

Where's Greg? I think it's better to have Greg on the show than to have 2 persons having the same positive views on the pictures. This way we can all learn from mistakes.

  • Why are your 5 minute portraits never 5 minutes?

  • @JaredPolin reviewss... and comparisons are always good!

  • @JaredPolin Why you sound so gay when you say "Fro Knows Photo" ???

  • @theraginggiblets Still figuring it out! When I´m shooting RAW and tweaking the files with View NX2 getting very nice shots too! Using the 35mm 1.8 I realized, that I, if at all, need not add much sharpening later. The image is either tack-sharp to begin with or it has motion blurr because I didn´t watch my shutter-speed. I´m mainly using it in AV to keep an eye on the F-Stops (DOF!! It´s not a wide-angle-lens and the D3100 is not a point-and shoot, I always have to remember that!.. ;-)
