  • Willy, I think the 49rs and the Redskins would disagree lol 6 SB wins between them in the 80s...Bears had what...1?

  • "Nelson...through his hands and the Redskins will go to the Super Bowl!" Great call by Pat Summerall.

Three hours later on another network another classic call from another classic game.

"Draw to Byner..Earnest Byner..fumbles the ball and DENVER HAS RECOVERED!! Oh, MYY!!" from Dick Enberg as the Broncos beat the Browns.

Two great championship games on the same day. Too bad the Super Bowl was a blowout, although Redskin fans were happy with the outcome of that game.

  • @donnpatc Interesting perspective. I'll say that Joe really believed that Doug was the best guy to go with (for FB reasons). Also, didn't Jay Schroeder have rapport issues with teammates? I recall Mike Ditka going with Mike Tomczak in the Playoffs against Philadelphia in 88 even though Jim McMahon was activated for the game. McMahon had led the Bears to a 7-1 record prior to getting injured and was out for the last 8 games. Tomczak led the Bears to the win despite getting hurt late in the game.

It's hardly bragging rights when a huge majority of teams didn't exist then.

Fact is only championship the Bears have won is ONE in almost 50 years since the pre super bowl era.

  • @AmericanNohbuddy

Hey a championship is still a championship. And it may have been only 8 teams but that was the gridiron football that this pass happy and overprotected pansy shit we see today

  • Joe Gibbs only coach to win 3 super bowls with 3 different QBs, none of which are hall of famers.

  • @thomaswithanH

Before the Super Bowl during a time when there was only like 8 teams.

  • @DButz65 Lets not forget the 8 NFL championships with The Bears

  • I happened to be at this game and it still feels like yesterday. I was down at that end zone for that last play. RFK stadium was so awesome to be at during the 80's. That stadium went absolutely berserk. I get goose bumps thinking about it. You were hugging everyone around you and high fiving. It was just nuts.

A feeling I'll never forget. Also a feeling I haven't had since then given the Skins have been so pathetic. Anyway HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

  • This was one of the best NFL games I ever watched... SUCH good defense

  • @KRIIMZONx It's because of Deon's dancing and strutting. The man was smart, give him that. All that "me first" stuff got him notice, endorsements, etc. All of his interception returns were played about 20 times so people think that he had 1100 interceptions with 500 touchdowns. Ludicrous.

  • @jedwing i know right i hate how everyone says its deion sanders i hate that guy he was so overrated and shouldnt be the best cornerback

  • @KRIIMZONx Thank you! He has more return touchdowns in the playoff than Deon Sanders. He has about 3 or 4 less interceptions than Deon's career total. And about 600 more tackles. And he won his rings on the same team, not cherry picking the best teams as a free agent. Thanks for injecting truth here.
