Alpacas we saw at a local farm on Sept. 27, 2009. They are animals from the "Camelid" family which also includes camels and llamas, and are raised for the fiber in their coats the same way as sheep. Alpacas are from the Andes Mountains of South America from the countries of Peru, Bolivia and Chile.

they are quite cute, especially the babies. this farm is in Hope.

yeah my friends alpaca had a baby and we named him paulie, but he escaped out of his pasture and the bears got him :( it was so sad
