  • Saw this band many times, lottsa fun. Most meorable was at Brom;ey Teachers Training College listening to them whilst having naughties with Dominque underneath the piano inn the hall. Happy daze.

They had this light show, which I shamelessly copied.

Good gigs at the marquee. The bassist was a friend, he couldn't really play, Del always tuned his guitar, lol

  • You too lol ?

  • one of my long time favourites ever.. I used to play saturday morning pictures a lot and of course their first album

  • @dontfuckwithperfect Agreed I know the band quite well, and have booked them several times to play at various venues around Birmingham. And I can assure you all Stu is a top class bassist, FACT.

  • can i just say that whoever posted the comment about the bassist needing his guitar tuned for him is talking utter pish, and i very much doubt he was 'friends' with him

  • i used to see them at the Farx club in Southall in 1970. Fantastic band I didn't know they were still going they should be a lot more well know than they are.Anyone else remember the Farx?

  • This is my first time listening to this -- I love it!!

I'll admit that I learned about it through the Iron Maiden b-side cover, which is very different. Still really good, in my opinion...but I wouldn't be surprised if long-time Stray fans hated it.

I'll have to check out more of this band! Thanks for having it up!

  • can see why they had following, partic with uni shit heads, but not as good as many other "nearly but not quite" bands of the time. certainly not as good as nazareth for instance. main prob , 2 me any way, is they dont seem 2 know what they are. there is def a strong feel of prog rock in there not brought up to date and not fused prop with heavy. also some the geetar solos seem 2 av just been lumped in so theres no real links or flow

  • @anthonydansullivan

cool story hope you enjoyed your "naughties" erm couldnt really play bass compared to whom ? The guy who plays bass on here is not shabby i heard a whole bunch worse ...John Entwistle he is not i agree but he keeps good time and has a fair good sound and groove going on listening to this awesome tune makes me wish i couldnt really play the bass. I am 41 now and i only heard about stray about 15 years ago after a chance purchase of a cheap rock compilation cd great tune

  • @anthonydansullivan yeah one of the best rock band live ......the Marquee was sold out when they were playing !!! I remember a heavy nite at the Roundhouse : UFO , Stray and the Dirty tricks .... :-) my ears are still bleeding Dude !!!!! unfortunatly all their album (may be except " Move-it ) were disappointing :-((((((((((((((

  • Best of all they're still going strong. Check out Dell Bromham's web site and see what you're missing!!

  • This is great Tim. Thanks for sharing . Stray would be amazing to see live. Best wishes. james:)
