Would that trick work with a single, charred stick? Or do you need 2 charred pieces of wood for that to work?.

You have to have the two. They feed off of each other building heat until, fire.

The rolling boil is more of a visual signal to let you know it's purified. You don't need to boil for several minutes (only @ altitude). Great videos though, keep'm coming mate : )

Is fire steel just a stick of steel? I think I've seen Bear Grylls use one before.

@ExtremeJeffEnigma It is a rod that is also called a Ferrosium rod, when you scrape it with a hard edge that is high carbon steel, there is a reaction that creates the sparks.

@flipster12000 Look closer my friend, I'm not striking it with the knife edge. The Fallkniven has a sharp edged spine made just for striking a firesteel. That is what I am using as a striker.
