The funniest part to me about the person who complained she was destroying her voice singing this easy role at 19 is that the original Barbarina was 12 years old (and 17 when she debuted Pamina)

"this is good!" squeals the headbanger.

Is there any reason why "Il capro e la capreta " was skipped in minute 4.52? It's such a beautiful area, and it smooths the long recitativos..

@Villainesse Its just that the quality of her voice promised at this age has diminished so in the past couple years.

My singing teacher says that women can start singing at 15 and men at 17, so I don't agree with you! Also, check Carlotta Gomiero, she is 25!Also, two italian doctors last week said that they made a research and found out that Callas died from a mascular disease that effected her vocal cords and the lost of weight, and one of the affections of the medicines was the heart attack, so, unfortunately this happened to her. Also, Onassis died some years later by the same disease!

@Villainesse She also won an Emmy and 16! I am so jealous to

I'll be seeing DeNeise sing Susanna at the San Francisco Opera premeire. She's come a long way!

wow. just wow. she is so incredible... wow
How do you figure her voice is destroyed? Barbarina is totally appropriate for a 19 year old to sing...she just happens to be a very talented, lucky 19 year old who is singing it at the Met! and then later Cleopatra at 25 at Glyndebourne! Trust me I am jealous but she deserves it!
