Hello, we have the same problem, wi had to amputated the tail two times but it was not the solution of the problem. Now he get gabapentin and selgian. Gaba is an medicin Germany for epileptic and phantom pains and selgian is an antidepressiva. It controlls the problem for 7 - 8 hours a little bit but when I don´t give him the medics the agressiv behavior against his tail comes back!? F u . . feline hyperästhesie.....!!!!

thats funny, my kitten dose the same thing but he dosent hiss and im sure he knows its his own tall. Hes just having fun practicing for killing mice in the future.

@GenXintrovert73 some cats just don't recognize their own tails sometimes. I've seen it before. This cat just takes the big prize =P

It's not funny as if this behaviour persists it could well lead to the cat having the tail amputated .

sadly he got a bad uti got better on medication at first but it suddenly had no effect...he had to be put down :(
