This is the enhanced and tuned up version of the orininal Ringbom engine. It is now poweful enough to drive an electric generator to light up 5 bright LEDs.
Yes, it is a brushless CPU fan motor with the wings cut off. The contact with the flywheel (several harddisk platters bolted together) is via a rubber o-ring slipped onto the fan.
Is that a cpu fan brushless motor generating? I am working on a motorbike based alternator for magnets on the flywheel but if that's a brushless the friction is minimal and big gearing! good idea.
very cool setup!

a youtube user named BARUMMAN has recently uploaded some videos of his free piston Stirlings that appear to have linear electric generators

Tripler is a simple 3 diodes 3 capacitors circuit . You can Google it by searching on "voltage tripler"

Thanks. I think the motor doesn't limit the power too much, it's the Stirling engine itself that needs a bit of a Viagra treatment.

Maybe the rc airplane brushless motors could pump more juice? good work. What tripler did you use is it a 3 pole type chip?

The generator produces AC voltage, so I passed it through a rectifier-tripler before loading onto the LEDs.
