Of course, the message here is don't fall for instant gratification textbooks that claim you'll learn faster than another textbook. They're probably just sacrificing quality / important content. If you're really serious about Japanese, don't bother with these, and get yourself a real textbook.

When I first started learning Japanese 6 years ago, someone got me one of those books. I said thank you and was thankful for the gift, but, I never looked at it even once.
