I'm getting tired of hearing/reading that just because of the way they're educated means the Chinese people aren't creative. Maybe they are less likely to express their creativity as 16yo high school students or 20yo college students (because,my goodness, they study so much) but eventually they are as likely as anyone else to express their creativity once they've finished their education. I mean, look at China's history: thousands of years' worth of amazing creativity!

@Amandalx21 I disagree. You ARE, if you're Chinese, every bit as capable of creativity as any other human being on the planet; it's just that the Chinese education system simply emphasizes different priorities. In the end, a talented, creative person from ANY nation or culture will find a way to express that creativity. The only real exception is North Korea; not because they aren't just as creative, but because being creative in that culture can get them imprisoned or executed.

american early education can learn a lot from the chinese

Maybe we're not creative but on the other note, most western teens are not that creative either. i know this cos i can see it from my school. At least, we have our priorities straight not all perhaps.but most western kids, not all definitely, from what i came across are busy with boys,make-ups,sex,parties,gett
ing drunk. i'm not saying all. -
@ysrome Studying =/ productivity. My friend is Chinese, he does tell me about the 12-14 hours of studying done, and I can see that he's a genius since he has his name on Magic Rubix Cube n-dimension solver, 1x rank on national math tests, etc; certainly such people are smart, but when it comes to innovation, the pursuit of knowledge and the formalization of theories and basic principles... it's hard to say historically where most of it has been originated from.

My God. I would hate to learn that way.

@freegreeningyi THANK YOU! you are so wonderful :) thank you thank you thank you!

@duckielove27 yes, the teacher says:shang ke(which mean 'class begin'), then the monitor says'qi li'(which means 'stand up, please'), then the students together says'lao shi hao'(which means 'good morning/hello, my teacher'), then the monitor says'zuo xia'(means 'sit down, please.').
-
@freegreeningyi it's at the end with the little kids at 9:37 one of the kids says to stand and i think they say sit after they greet her. Thanks so much :)
I wonder where BBC got their translators from. Those conversations are way off!

if chinese students are so bad....how come they are successful in American universities and in general America...creativity is good but knowing and understanding the fundamentals is more important in school than creativity. Once u know and understand the fundamentals, then you can be creative... and ysrome is right about American schools.
