yes straight in the powerzone but since you pull the back of the kite you control the pull very well...but the kite will loop out of the takoff so it will pull somewhat...the bug is to release one backline then the other one and steer...things happent quickly whe you do it. Very usefull on the ice or snow in severly underpowered conditions...I wear a PFD too and most riders here do since it is the law

I agree with attiszek...this method might look good on this video and might have worked in this particular instance, but there are significant risks involved. Also, like the poster of the video mentioned, it only works in LIGHT WIND CONDITIONS...and he's using a very small kite for that amount of wind! I've never flown a 10m Nemesis, but I would think that 11/12kts would be on the low end of that kite's range, if not even outside of it.

i like the fact he's wearing a buoyancy aid! because i thought i was the only person who weared one whilst doing this :D i've never seen anyone else have one on :) suddenely i don't feel quite so special!

yeah full powerzone launch , but handy sometimes if you know what you are doing ( also in the water )

seems easy enough.. and u can always depower the kite when it whips around.
-
are u positioned directly in the powerzone?
Yes this works in that case in 14/15kts too without big "emotions".
When the wind il "right" that technique is useless, you can relaunch as normally...
NOTE: it works also in deep water without problem. Tested, used and re-tested successfully.

Yes, but: WARNING!!!! that techinique is usable only with some kites /measures and only in light wind conditions.
In that case I used a Best 10m Nemesis HP with 11/12kts.
