UFO Sightings An Unidentified Aerial Craft Inadvertently Filmed During the Shooting of Snipers Ridge
By Ed Sherwood
A little after 1pm on March 18th 2004, while I was taking a short lunch break at home, momentarily watching a 1961 black and white US Korean War drama called Snipers Ridge, I spotted a very impressive looking UFO moving across the sky in the films last main action sequence!
The unidentified aerial object is clearly visible in the background twice during the particular action sequence; once for two seconds, and then for five seconds, with about sixteen seconds of different views and action edited between the two clips.
In the first sequence a soldier takes aim and fires as the unidentified aerial object moves across the sky behind him. In the second, the same soldier is turning and firing as the unidentified aerial object continues on its path until being obscured by the soldiers movements.
Though very quick clips, amounting to seven seconds in total, it is possible to determine that the unknown object was large (perhaps larger than a school bus), self-luminous, and elliptical or disk like in shape. There were no tail fins, or undercarriage, or structure typical of an airship or blimp. It also appeared to move too fast for an airship.
Flying horizontally, from left to right, at a constant quick rate of speed, the UFO appears to be perhaps only one to two miles away (at most) from the camera and actors at the time. During the second clip it is momentarily obscured by a rifle strap, adding dimension for a possible size analysis, while affirming it was a distant object that reappeared for a moment, before being completely hidden behind the soldier in the scene.
It was my first independent armchair UFO sighting and it changed the way I look at movies (especially older ones).
Its extremely rare to spot a UFO inadvertently recorded in a movie and I wasnt the first person to notice the Snipers Ridge UFO. Another viewer, named Jeff Challendar, unknown to me when I sighted the historic UFO, also spotted it in August 2003! While conducting an Internet search for Snipers Ridge Kris found Jeffs report, including a low resolution, Quick Time movie clip of the UFO, viewable at: http://www.yorkshireufoinfo.homestead...

UFO Sightings (Part 3) is excerpted from a sixty-one minute long movie called Snipers Ridge. Produced and directed by John Bushelman and starring Jack Ging, Stanley Clements, John Goddard and Douglas Henderson, it was released in 1961 by Twentieth Century Fox and was aired on the US American Movie Classic (AMC) Cable Channel on March 18th 2004 (when I spotted the UFO). Snipers Ridge was also aired twice in August 2003 and again on March 27th 2004.

This film is recent enough (I know 50 years) that the original negative should still be around. If you could find that, then you might have something truly amazing. If it looks this good from a copy, the original should be quite cool.
Hey, kosh one of the movies wouldnt happen to be about aircraft carriers would it? Years ago I was watching a documentary on carriers and I think it was during a kamikaze scene in the background was the perfect classic UFO. I never have been able to find it again.
not the ones I have. I just happen to see one on "cops" on fox maybe 10/12 yrs ago tried gettin info about the show but never heard back from them but after that I just then started to notice more tv show and movies so I started to collect them.
