The MythBusters attempt to use 1000 pounds of good old FeO3 and Al (AKA Thermite) to split a car in half, then end the show with a bang with some of Adam's favorite explosions.

  • like/dis like bar is a lightsaber :D

  • @BLHProductions2 poor camera handling

  • That observation shack looks very similar to the ones used at New Mexico Tech and I wonder if this was shot there.

For more thermite tests done for media, as well as tests done by Jonathan Cole (who took the time to figure out how to make the stuff work) see my video:

  • if youre gonna put "productions" in your username.... you should at least have good quality recording...

  • @NellJSmith (Continued due to lack of space)... And, of course, there were traces found in the WTC dust not just of thermite, as well as thermate (a FAR hotter-burning related compound), but also NANO-thermite, the military-grade high explosive version of thermite which is insanely powerful and was found as both partially ignited and non-ignited microscopic chips throughout the WTC dust. Being a nano-material, it has huge explosive power in tiny amounts. Why would THAT be present at the WTC?

  • Where on Earth is the need to use a THOUSAND POUNDS of thermite to achieve this small result? A few pounds would be MORE than enough, suitably directed downwards (i.e. not just piled randomly in sacks!). The British light-hearted scicence documentary series, Brainiacs, used a very small amount of thermite to burn straight through a car's strongest part, the engine block: watch?v=rdCsbZf1_Ng. Is THIS video some kind of attempt to prove the WTC would have needed "too much" thermite to destroy it?

  • @WarCrime911
