idea about save water clean. Nature and rivers need long time for renewable polluted water. If in toilets use thin plastic bags instead water and collect they in tanks (same like by urban garbage truck) and then in factory where will get biogas, and reuse plastic materials for new bags. also in Asian citys where water is deficit and oil is cheap so plastic materials too, possible using instead water thin plastic pockets, and after closing bag then pour little water for removing smells. so: no any smells, no pollution environment, and getting benefits from biogas :)
Lasha Bitsadzes idea.
Thanks my eco teacher Jan Olof for gave thinks about this.

  • There will no smell because after plastic bag will be out of toilet then possibe pour water for remove any smells, and water will go out in usually canalisation sistem with less polution.

  • I think that would smell soooo bad!

  • also possible producing this pockets from hard papers with very thin plastic layer covered inside, for keep wet mass. as you see after using toilet, pockets will closed hermeticly, so i think there will no smell, if using simple ventilation, because there will no stay any source for smell

So, this construction has ecological and economical advantages.

  • A compost toilet saves on water (none used)

Plastic is made by oil, I dont think thats a good idea given the current crises. Besides composting toilets are 100% biodragradable whereas plastic bags are not

  • for simple calculation normally for one using toilets needs about 10-15 litre water. so 100 plastic pocket have price less than 1 dollar and can economy more than 1 ton (1000 litre) water, his prise is more than 1 or in some countries 5-7$ too(mostly in Asia).

  • @lashmen except for the fact that they will rupture and further the bacteria in a oxygen deprived environment will make more toxic and much more offensive products. Besides that the plastic bags which r not biodegradable will not be very environmentally friendly. Sounds like a good idea, but about as practical as a lead helicopter in practice.

  • perfect

  • We could just revert back to digging a hole outside and then burying it. I don't see an issue with this, what is the problem? Why use technology on crap?

  • yes and then put the bag in a biogas digestor and use it for renewable energy! right on

  • Yes, but liquid (urine) will have smell and need water for clean toilet, and needs differenet construction for spliting and becoming not so simple like just colect all mass in pockets.

  • Would it not be better to separate the solid and liquid waste and only put the solids in the plastic pockets?
