TOWANDA FARM MARKETWarrior Run Meadows in Watsontown is grass-based dairy farm licensed by the PA Dept. of Agriculture to bottle and sell raw milk. Elaine Klingler, owner-operator, will be at Towanda Farmers Markets on Tuesdays & most Fridays with raw milk and a wide range of cheeses made from it. Klingler uses organic farming methods and does not use BST on her cows. She milks 24 Guernsey cows with a total herd of 53. It is a closed herd so all replacements are raised on the farm. Klingler has extra testing done to insure a high quality, safe product. The cheeses are made in a PDA licensed plant and include mozzarella, havarti, asiago, parmesan, cheddar, farmers, baby swiss, hot pepper jack, provolone, Colby, feta, Romano, montasio and cottage cheese and cheese spreads. Not all types will be available at every market but there will always be a wide range. Milk is available in Quart, half-gallon and gallon jugs
I am from Guernsey in the Channel Islands where the Guernsey breed of cows comes from and virtually all the cows here are Guernsey's. I did not know that about raw milk. Our local shop bought milk is so creamy it is litrally like single cream.
