Easdale Island Community Hall 1st Sept 2006. Only 50 people there, very personal performance, and a true gentleman of music. A folk legend. Talked to him after and he was very humble, signed my sheet answered some questions i had, then i had to go cos their were hurricane winds coming and the ferry said we would not get off the island if we didnt go immediately. Man that really was a magic night to remember.

  • you have a very good video, it´s even better for the fact that bert doesn´t sing this song himself on the album...you should PUT HIS NAME ON THE TITLE, because it is very hard to find this video and more people should see it!!

  • Hi BRS, thanks for that, ye someone else said that before, i`m not a great user of youtube but i`ll see if i can change it to having his name. also have him playing the auld triangle from the same evening so i wil see if i can fish that out aswell. All the best mate. Richrd

  • this is great,, but no-one can top the haunting version by karen dalton ,,truely amazing vocal style..

  • @richardd2063 david carradine?mm was he tripping???

  • @kap66 yeah your right what i should have have said is this is daltons version of a traditional folk song like blackwaterside is bert jansch's version of a traditional folk song.

  • @ALfaDuB101 Karen Dalton didn't write this, Katie Cruel is a traditional American folksong, likely of Scottish origin. The American version of the song is said to date to the Revolutionary War period.

  • The usual high standard from Bert,Karen Dalton classic!

  • I seen Bert in glasgow he is fantastic ,Karen Dalton wrote this song and played banjo for those who havent heard her i cannot recomend her enough she is bob dylans favourite singer, she never got the fame she so deserved what an amazing voice and guitar player.

  • DL the audio from this clip at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • I just saw Bert in Pittsburgh tonight. At one point he remarked that the audience was very quiet, and after a pause someone in the audience said "we're just spellbound". Spellbinding is a very appropriate way of describing Bert's performance.

  • There is only one Bert! Legend!
